The Life of Christ
Grade level: 9th grade (Two Semesters)

Course description:
This class will cover the mission of Jesus Christ through a chronological study of His life and teachings. Using biblical text we will study the value of God's purpose for Christ's ministry (i.e. His birth, work, death, resurrection, and effect on the world - past and present.) Students will also be introduced to biblical terms, geographical locations, participating characters, and prominent themes promoted by the biblical text.
Early Church History
Grade level: 10th grade (Two Semesters)
Pre-requisite: None
Course description: This course is an introduction to Church history. We will begin with the inter-testament period and examine Church history to the present. Major topics will be the historical development of Christianity as seen through the book of Acts, the age of the Church Fathers, the Middle Ages, the Reformation, the Enlightenment, and the modern and post-modern periods. The course will examine the development of the major Christian denominations and will also examine major world religions which developed alongside Christianity. The course will conclude with a brief comparison of Christianity with other significant religions.
Hermeneutics/Eschatology
Grade level: 11th grade (Two Semesters)

Course description: This course is designed in two segments. The first segment to be presented during the first semester will be a course in hermeneutics. It will be designed to acquaint the student with a basic understanding of the principles of Biblical Inspiration with a short overview of the origins and authority of the Bible, followed by a course in the three step model of biblical hermeneutics. Students will gain an understanding of the primary tools used in Biblical research. Students will be provided the opportunity to use and practice these principles and tools in the study of selected Biblical passages. The second segment to be presented 2nd semester will be a course in eschatology. It will be designed to acquaint the student with a basic understanding of the prophetic/apocalyptic future as presented in the Bible. Consideration will be given to various interpretations, symbolism, and historical dependency and the general devotional and theological teachings of this topic.
Philosophy – UC Approval Pending
Pending Grade level: 12th grade (Two Semesters)
Pre-requisite: None
Course description: This course is an introduction to, and an overview of, Philosophy. The student will be introduced to major philosophical disciplines, key issues, and significant philosophers and philosophies of history. Major topics include The ‘Great Questions’, logic and critical thinking, the formulation and analysis of worldviews, and examination of major metaphysical issues such as the origin and nature of the universe, the nature of man, the nature of truth, and major theories of ethics and aesthetics. The course will encourage students to critically analyze both their own views and the views of others, and to live an ‘examined life.’
