7th Grade Intro to Art
Grade level: 7th grade (One Quarter)
Pre-requisite: None
Course description: In this course students will focus on the Elements and the Principles of Design. Students will use a variety of drawing and painting media as they learn these, including pencil, pastel, watercolor, and tempera paint. Many of the projects are designed to reinforce ideas or introduce new concepts that students are learning in World History and Life Science.
8th Grade Art
Grade level: 8th grade (Second Semester)
Pre-requisite: None
Course description: This course builds on concepts that students learned in the 7th grade Intro to Art. Students review the elements and principles of art. Many of the projects will be similar to, but more detailed or complex than the 7th grade projects. The art projects are designed to reinforce ideas and concepts in the students’ United States History course. Special emphasis is placed on projects that will enhance their study trip to the East Coast Historic Study Tour. In addition, projects will coincide with students’ Earth Science course. Students will continue to learn how to use a variety of drawing and painting media.
7th Grade Intro to Multi Media Arts
Grade level: 7th grade (One Quarter)

Course description: This course covers studies in movie planning, digital still picture editing, non-linear editing and DVD creation. The new technologies of electronic communication are relegating old and freed media such as pamphlets, platforms and periodicals to a corner of the public platform. As such, family analog pictures and video are oxidizing in boxes in our closets. This course will teach students to capture these memories digitally, artistically edit and preserve them in a digital format that their families can enjoy for years to come.
8th Grade Multi Media Arts
Grade level: 8th grade (Second Semester)

Course description: This course covers the study and application of a variety of digital media formats including web graphics, photography, audio and video. Students learn idea creation, composition, storyboarding, script/screenplay writing, production planning, camera fundamentals and techniques, shot composition, lighting, audio recording, non-linear editing and distribution. The new technologies of electronic communication are relegating old and freed media such as pamphlets, platforms and periodicals to a corner of the public platform. This course will prepare students to effectively use digital media to communicate with and influence the current culture. By creating projects, critical thinking and organizational skills will be developed.
7th Grade Intro to Drama
Grade level: 7th grade (One Quarter)
Pre-requisite: None
Course description: This course introduces students to the basics of drama and helps students to develop an appreciation of dramatic literature and the dramatic profession through reading scripts and reading and writing projects. Through dramatic activities students are provided an arena to improve and polish personal skills. Students also gain an appreciation for the history of theater and the acting profession.
7th Grade Music Appreciation
Grade level: 7th grade (One Quarter)
Pre-requisite: None
Course description: This course introduces students, in a non-technical manner, a wide variety of music to cultivate musical literacy and heighten an awareness of our vast musical legacy. The emphasis will be on Western music from the Middle Ages to the present time.
8th Grade Choir
Grade level: 8h grade (First Semester)
Pre-requisite: None
Course description: In this course, students learn and perform beginning levels of choral literature from selected musical genres and eras. Students learn basic music theory and performance, as well as exploring music history and creating an environment of music appreciation from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
