Technology is transforming education and Tri-City Christian School is a part of this growing wave of new learning. After a generous donation of an iPod Touch Cart for use in the second grade, teachers and administration alike are seeing the great potential for the future. Enter Peggy Means and Cyndi Ferguson, elementary teachers who are spearheading the pilot program here at TCCS. After the first year using the technology, they saw a significant increase in reading comprehension and fluency. Now in the second year, and thanks to a donation of more carts, the iPod Touch Program was born. The iPod Touch technology is being used by our kindergarten and first graders through learning center rotations. “We are excited about the endless possibilities that the mobile devices can add to traditional learning,” said Ferguson. “Students are engaged in the learning process and excited to explore different ways to express their understanding of a given subject,” she added. The recent auction proceeds will be used to further advance the iPod Touch program in grades three and four. Future expansion includes an iPad pilot program for grades five and six and an iPad program developed for the secondary campus. Way to go |
