Twenty-five students, parents and faculty from TCCS headed to Haiti in May to serve an orphanage of 75 young adults and children who had lost their school, dorm and church in the 2010 earthquake that rocked the island. Bible teacher and trip coordinator, Jilane Hawkins saw the Tri-City team serving with enthusiasm, joy and laughter through their week of sacrifice. “I saw Jesus in my fellow team members and in the children of Haiti. We have made relationships among our group and with the people we served that will last a lifetime.” Hawkins said of the experience. Impacted heavily by what he saw in Haiti, the beloved late Jason Rodarmel had this to say of his mission in May. “There’s so much poverty and destruction in Haiti that it can be overwhelming. But seeing the smiles and hearing the voices of those little ones, sitting on the laps of our TCC team and worshipping our Savior at the top of their lungs...and in both English and Creole...I simply cannot describe how awesome that was! Our God is a big God!” |
