Student Life - Jr. High

Spiritual Life

Spiritual life at TCCS permeates through our entire school program because we desire our students to grow and mature in their faith, knowledge, and love for God according to Matthew 22:34-40.

In this passage, Jesus tells us that what is most important to God can be boiled down to these two commandments:

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and soul. You shall love others as yourself."

  • We hire Christians who are passionate about students, teaching, and learning
  • Because the Word of God is the foundation of our faith, we offer biblical instruction in our Bible classes and across the curriculum
  • We invest time in worshipping God at our weekly chapel programs
  • We take our faith and put it into action as we reach out to others through missions trips and community service activities
  • We pray (praising, thanking, confessing, and making our requests known to God) throughout each school day
  • We respect and care for each other as Christ said, “the world will know that we are Christians by our love for one another”

Our school’s motto is training up spiritual champions for Jesus Christ, and our definition of a “spiritual champion” is one who is:

  • Vested in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Grounded in Biblical truth, able to articulate and defend their faith
  • Christ-like in mind, body, and spirit

Chapel Program

Junior High chapels are filled with enthusiastic students who are eager to learn more about their faith in Jesus Christ. These years are critical in the lives of these young adolescents and therefore, youth pastors who have the gift and the knack for communicating biblical truths in a relevant and meaning way are often our speakers in our chapels.

Worship Team

For our students who are blessed with musical talent, we have a place for them to take ownership and leadership in leading our students in worship during chapel. It is never too early or too late to become involved in an important area such as leading worship and we have been blessed at TCCS with students who have a heart for the Lord.

Co-Curricular Activities

"Learning at TCCS is not confined to the four walls of the classroom as many teachers seek to inspire and engage their students with enriching educational field and study trips throughout the year."

Performing Arts Programs

As God is the author of creativity and beauty, students at TCCS discover and express their God-given talents in the area music, drama, art, and digital media. Personal expression, creative thinking, imaginative communication, and intellectual curiosity are all outcomes leading students to experience a greater appreciation of God’s majestic creation.

Community Service Days

During the school year, our 7th and 8th graders take to the San Diego North County to serve and bless those who need some encouragement and attention. Cultivating a heart of service to the Lord begins in the elementary program through various causes and then during Junior High, our students are ready to “do” what is in their hearts!

Christian Service Requirements

Junior High School – 15 hours per year (7-8 per semester)

Note: Students cannot receive payment for their service. Junior High and High School students may not work for an immediate family member.

Student Clubs

Clubs at TCCS provide students the chance to develop special abilities through various interest opportunities. Students are encouraged to foster their creative development through club participation.

Associated Student Body (ASB)

The Associated Student Body students represent the student body of Tri-City Christian Jr. High School, in order to encourage greater interest in school-based events to plan quarterly events and lunch time activities, to promote the identity of Tri-City Christian Jr. High School, to further the reputation of Tri-City Christian Jr. High School, and to bring about greater unity between the students, and to serve Christ while serving others.

Student Activities

Junior High
Beach Night

The Junior High Beach Night is a beginning of the year activity which usually is scheduled for Friday of the first week. All 7th-8th grade students are encouraged to come. It is a great social event for the Junior Highers to get to know each other better.

Junior High Banquet*

Second Semester

The Junior High Banquet is a semi-formal social event for all students in grades 7-8. It is not a dating event. The event is coordinated by the Junior High and ASB and includes fun “student” awards.

Star of India*

Second Semester

The Star of India trip is two day “hands-on” history trip aboard the Star of India located in San Diego and is a component of the 7th grade History/Social Science curriculum.  Students are broken into teams and re-enact jobs and duties of passengers aboard the ship. This trip is usually scheduled in April.

East Coast Trip*

Are you ready to walk in the footsteps of Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, and Lincoln, and visit the “epicenter” of American politics? Pack you bags and get ready for an awesome adventure! Our Historic Study Tour provides students firsthand knowledge of our earliest beginnings as “one nation under God”, the establishment and development of the U.S. government, the wars and battlefields that helped shape the course of our nation, the leaders who influenced major decisions and events, and to experience first-hand how the executive, legislative, and judicial branches operate today. This 9-day trip of the East Coast is an excellent, impacting experience that inspires students to uncover the foundations of what makes America the country that we are today.

*Event restricted to current TCCS students.
