Michael Smith

College & Career

Meet Michael Smith, your college & career counselor, dedicated to helping students achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals. Drawing on a strong foundation in student development and guidance, Mr. Smith provides personalized support as students explore academic pathways, career interests, and postsecondary opportunities. In addition to college and career planning, he is trained to help students strengthen academic skills, build resilience, and develop healthy interpersonal relationships that foster overall success. Rooted in the belief that true success comes from pursuing God’s calling, he partners with parents to help students discover their gifts and walk forward with confidence and faith.

Dinner & Information Night for Seniors and their parents discussing the senior year timeline, senior seminar class & senior exhibition project, financial aid, college guidance tips, and college application review.

College Application Help Days

Our College & Academic Counselor hosts multiple college application help days where you can come and get help with your essays, college organization, or more. All seniors meet with the Counselor one on one through out the semester as well.

3 Day College Tour

Students are taken on a 3 day college tour across california! We tour 7 - 8 colleges in three days and expose students to various universities such as Cal Poly SLO, UCLA, BIOLA, California Baptist University and University of Southern California.

Career Day

Career Professionals from the San Diego area come on campus to lead sessions about how they got to the career they are in now and what they are doing now. Students can sign up for 5 different career sessions! Last year we had over 12 Career Fields represented with over 70 Professionals presenting!

7th - 8th Naviance Training & Personality Assessments

Our College & Academic Counselor has the 7th grade students take a learning styles inventory assessment where students can gain a better understanding of their learning styles to focus on going into 8th grade. 8th graders take a Strengths Explorer assessment that narrows down their top 3 strengths and what career fields those strengths could lead to one day.

Junior Information Night

Information Night for Juniors & parents discussing the senior year timeline, senior seminar class & senior exhibition project, financial aid, college guidance tips, and college application review.

Senior Exhibition

Year long portfolio website project centered on Senior's academic, social and spiritual journey in high school presented to a group of panelists from the local San Diego area. Seniors will practice sharing their experiences from high school in a professional interview setting.
