Visual Arts
Our visual arts program fosters creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression, nurturing well-rounded students.
The goal of TCCS’ Secondary Visual Arts Program is to give students an opportunity to express their creativity through the use of drawing and painting.
The levels of Art are: Junior High Art; High School Art 1, Art 2, Art 3, and AP 2D Art and Design.
The JH class is one semester and students can take the class either in 7th or 8th grade, or take it for both years. The High School classes are all one-year classes.
Junior High
In Junior High, students use polymer clay to make animal figurines, experiment with block-printing, and test elements with a pour-painting project. Emphasis is placed on incorporating the Elements of Art and Design and the Principles of Art and Design into finished pieces of art. While Junior High art drawings tend to be based on a more cartoony style, High School students focus on realism and abstract art.
High School
High School Students focus on a variety of projects, including still lifes, landscapes, animal art, portraits and figures, and learn how to draw in perspective. Junior High Students will learn some of the above and also write a Bible verse in calligraphy.
Advanced High School Arts
Advanced High School Art Students can do Advanced Placement (AP) 2D Art and Design. In this program students will complete a minimum of 20 pieces of artwork to submit to the AP Classroom. Students work around a theme and do a variety of both drawings and paintings to complete the requirements.
